Faith Sinclair (16) was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver
Date: Aug 03, 2008 Cause of Death: Auto-Pedestrian Accident Location: Sharon Hill, Pennsylvania
A candlelight vigil was held Monday evening for teenage girl who was struck and killed by a hit and run driver in Delaware County.
Authorities said the 16-year-old victim, identified as Faith Sinclair, was crossing the street near Chester Pike and Laurel Road in Sharon Hill when she was struck by a vehicle at about 10:15 p.m. Sunday evening.
Sinclair, an honor student at Ridley High School, was walking with friends at the time of the accident.
"We were half-way across and these blue headlights came like 80, 90 miles-per-hour," said friend and witness, Kirstie Kehner. "I turned around and she was on the ground."
Witnesses said the teen was hit by a dark-colored car, possibly a Mercedes or BMW that was traveling at a high rate of speed. The driver failed to stop after the crash and fled the scene.
Authorities are searching for a Mercedes or BMW with possible front-end and windshield damage. The vehicle may also be missing a passenger side-view mirror and front grill.
Family and friends gathered at the intersection of the deadly crash Monday afternoon to create a makeshift memorial for the fallen teen.
"I pray that the person who did this pray and turn yourself in," said eyewitness Travis Bussey. "Have a conscience; you took someone's child away."
Funeral arrangements are pending.
